They renamed there band the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band did there first out of town show in Aspen at the Cathay Grand Club. There most notorious performance however was at the Kit Kat Klub.
The years of drug abuse finally caught up to Hillel in 1988 and he overdosed. Hillels death shook the band to it roots. Anthony hid out in a small mexican village ridding himself of any lingering narcotic cravings. Jack Irons also left the band shutting himself off form the rest of the world. He blamed the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the demise of his friend, therefor he wanted nothing moe to do with it. Flea too immersed himself with other musical side projects. It seemed like the end of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Anthony and Flea decided to go about rebuilding the band. It was during this time that they wrote the song Under The Bridge wich is dedicated to Hillel. John Fruiscante auditioned and got the part as the new guitarist for The Red Hot Chili Peppers.Finding a replacement drummer would prove to be much more difficult. Ads wereplaced in the newspappers and drummers lined up to display there skills on the skins. nearing the end of a long day, al hope had almost been lost when in walked Chad Smith, he belted out a great tune with his own obscene lyrics. The Red Hot Chili Peppers were a foursome once more.
It was during the leg of the asian tour that that John announced that he was quitting the band after the next show. It was 27 days before they were due at Lollapolooza. Arik Marshall, was asked to fill in for the rest of the tour. His initiation was infront of 60,000 at Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco. However marshall didn't fit in very well. Dave Navarro was again asked to join the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. He turned out to be just what the Red Hot Chili Peppers wanted to lift there musical spirits oncemore.
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers relaesed there album "One Hot Minuite" in 1995 and are working on a new album with the single "love Rollercoaster".
