COOL MOTHERFUCKER

Some say Axl Rose is the best entertainer on the planet. Ax Rose certainly had the world at his feet back in 1992-1993. Back in 1991, when the whole world was awaiting (the first) return of Guns n' Roses, one could real in Rock music magazines : "What the world needs is Axl Rose".

Axl Rose was a choirboy, gospel singer, pianist, and even taught Sunday school in his childhood. His extremely strict upbringing led him to rebel by the age of sixteen. Getting into trouble left and right with over 20 terms (he only admits to guilt on about 5 occasions).

Axl Rose was once known by the name of Bill Bailey. Bailey being his stepfathers name. He took the name of Rose when he found out when he found out it was his real father's name.

Rose felt that leaving Indiana was his only option so he took off in search of his friend Jeff (Izzy) Isbell, who had already left to seek fame and fortune in Hollywood.
In 1986, William legally changed his name to Axl. Axl Rose is the singer of Guns N' Roses since June 6th 1985 (date the band lineup was finalized).
Axl Rose is multi-talented with an extreme and powerful vocal range, piano skills, and has even recently taken up the guitar to add to his abilities. Axl Rose is currently the only original member still part of Guns n' Roses. Axl Rose has also baught the name "Guns n' Roses" and is the sole owner of the name.

The year 2001 will certainly be remenbered as the year of the second return of Guns n' Roses considering that Axl Rose did 4 concerts (we'll just forget about the twice cancelled European tour). Axl Rose also said he was working day and night on a new album to be called "Chinese Democracy". Doug Goldstein (Guns n' Roses manager) also talked about the soon to be released album.

2002 will be remembered for the European Tour, the Axl Rose performance at the MTV Music Video Awards, and the North American Tour complete with two riots (Vancouver and Philadelphia) that came to a crashing halt in Philadelphia USA after Axl Rose again failed to show for a concert so the tour promoter pulled the plud on the North American Tour.

Axl rose is now believed to be working hard to finish the upcomming album "Chinese Democracy". There is current speculation that GNR might have a song on the upcoming movie terminator 3 soundtrack.

Does the world still need Axl Rose? You betcha!

slash

tophat

Slash ran into Steven Adler at age 14, which happened to own a guitar wich would turn the tables for Slash. Slash moved to Los Angeles in 1976.

By some accounts, Slash was putting 12 hours a day in guitar playing.
Slash and Steven Adler eventually formed Road Crew in 1983.

Slash put an ad out in a newspaper and got a response from Duff McKagan. Duff joined Road Crew, but this group would eventually split up and become Hollywood Rose. Slash was Guns n' Roses lead Guitarist. Slash quit GNR in 1994 and formed Snakepit along with Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum.
His impressive skills are also in great demand as he's performed for countless well known artists from Rod Stewart to Michael Jackson.

Steven Adler moved to Los Angeles in 1972. He met Slash in 1983-1984 (some say 1979-1980) and they formed Road Crew which eventually split up. When GNR was formed in 1985, they needed a drummer and Duff McKagan suggested Steven Adler. It's no secret Steven had drug problems. Guns n Roses could only play two songs at Farm Aid IV in 1990 due to Steven's bad condition. The drummer was fired in 1991. In 1992, he made a lawsuit to GNR blaming them for his drug addiction. In 1993, there was an out of court settlement of 2.5 million. He is apparently presently writing a book, we'll keep you posted on that.

Duff McKagan has indeed been in many bands! Throughout his early career, Michael McKagan has tried his hands at Guitar, Drums, and Bass with more than 30 bands before landing with Guns n' Roses. There he would begin a career with Guns n' Roses that would span a decade. With the progressive downfall of the band however, and a near-death run in from excessive alcohol abuse, Duff cleaned up his life, took to the martial arts, especially kickboxing, and decided not to continue his career with the band. Duff is now part of a band called Loaded which toured in a few US cities in 2001.
